Winter bingo cards

Twelve cards from thirty-six things you meet between December and March, chapped lips, a fogged window, the long night.

The set on this page

Winter bingo cards, 5 by 5, 12 cards, 2 to a sheet: 24 squares a card, 6 sheets, 7 pages. The words set at 18.32 pt, noticeably larger than the Christmas cards, because the longest word on this list is shorter than the longest on that one.

What is on the list

Thirty-six: snowflake, icicle, mittens, a sledge, a blizzard, hot cocoa, black ice, a snowdrift, a draught, thick socks, bare branches, grit, early dark, a fogged window, slush, the long night. It is winter rather than Christmas: nothing on it is about a holiday, so it still plays in February.

Why the type size differs between these sets

Every seasonal set here is the same card at the same size, and the words come out at different sizes on each. The press sizes the type to the longest WORD on the list, not the longest entry, a phrase of short words wraps inside its square, but a single long word cannot, so it decides how small everything has to be. That is why this list sets at 18.32 pt and the Christmas one at 15.33.
